Welcome
to our guest house and farm. We believe you will enjoy our guest
house and 70 acres of Bitterroot Valley farm land as much as we
do. We are located on the very western edge of Montana some 12 miles
from the Idaho border. More specifically we are fifty miles South
of Missoula, Montana in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley near
the town of Hamilton. Our rural setting is three miles by crow from
the seething metropolis of Hamilton, population 6,000.
We operate
one of the few private Fish Hatcheries remaining in Montana. Three
ponds surround our home and hatchery building or as we call it the
fish house. It is the west end of the fish house that we offer to
guests. Out one door and into the heart of the building are the
fish raceways and out the west door, twenty five feet away, is one
of our main rearing ponds. Water literally runs beneath the floor
of the guest house having an effect on its occupants which is best
described as soothing.
Your
Hosts
Becky
and Dan Brandborg work from our home office here on the farm. Becky
creates web-sites, operates an old and rare book business, runs
the guest house and keeps Dan on a straight and narrow path. Dan
runs the hatchery, remodels older homes and does what Becky says.
We have one son Flynt who you will see changing our irrigation pipes
morning and night keeping the surrounding hay fields green and growing.
We all share a love for the backcountry and wilderness of Montana
and Idaho. We utilize horses and mules to access our surrounding
wilderness areas and spend time in the Selway Bitterroot, Yellowstone,
the Bob Marshal and Glacier.
Our
farm is our "recharge place" where the green of summer
brings the blood pressure back where it belongs after a good days
work. Pastoral is a word which comes to mind as I attempt to describe
this to you.
